From Central Florida Roots to Tennessee Waters: The Story Behind Big League Bait Co.
When you grow up in a family bait and tackle shop, fishing isn't just something you do, it's something you live. Long before Big League Bait Company ever stamped its name on a pack of soft plastics, our story started in a small shop in Central Florida, tucked between some of the best bass lakes in the country. Those lakes shaped us. That shop shaped us. And the people who stepped through those doors taught us what fishing is really about.
This is the story behind Big League Bait Company, a legacy built on family, simplicity, and a whole lot of time on the water.
A Bait Shop, a Family, and a Way of Life
Our family has been in the fishing industry for over 45 years. Back then, nothing about fishing was complicated. You picked a bait you trusted, tied it on the same way you'd always done it, and went back to work. Growing up around the shop, we saw every type of angler walk in, the weekend fisherman, the tournament diehards, kids spending their allowance on their first pack of worms.
What they all had in common was simple, they wanted something that worked.
We learned early that the best fishing isn't about having 200 different baits, it's about having the right ones. That's a lesson that stuck with us long after the original shop closed its doors.
The Words That Still Drive Us Today
There's a quote we heard more times than we can count. Whenever we asked our Grandfather why he always reached for the same bait, the same style, the same setup, every trip he'd look up and say:
"Cause anything else is just playin' in the water."
At the time, it felt like a simple joke.
Now we realize it was a philosophy, one that shaped our entire brand.
It reminded us that good baits don't need gimmicks, flashy packaging, or wild promises. They need reliability, consistency, and the kind of action you can trust day in and day out.
That's exactly what we're committed to building.
From Florida Roots to Tennessee Craftsmanship
Today, Big League Bait Company is proudly based in East Tennessee, where every bait is hand injected with that same old school mindset we grew up with.
Quality first. Hype never.
Just reliable soft plastics that do what they're supposed to do, help anglers catch more fish and create real memories on the water.
These baits aren't born in a boardroom, they're built from 45+ years of hands-on experience, thousands of hours on the water, and a family heritage that never let us settle for anything less than the good stuff.
Passing the Legacy Forward: One Angler at a Time
Our goal isn't to overwhelm people with endless options. We want to equip anglers, whether they're making their first cast or their thousandth, with gear they can count on. We want to bring back the excitement of walking into that little bait shop, pointing to a pack of plastics, and knowing they'd get the job done.
We want to pass on the same simple truth we were raised on:
Good baits help you catch fish. Great baits help you create memories.
That's what Big League Bait Company is here for.
Honoring the Past With the Big League Welcome Kit
To honor where we came from and to help anglers experience what our family learned over decades, we built the Big League Welcome Kit. It's simple, loaded with the essentials for building a Texas rig, and crafted with the same quality and mindset passed down through our family.
It's the perfect way for new anglers to get started and for experienced anglers to see what we stand for, real baits made by real fisherman.

A Legacy That Never Left the Water
The old bait shop may no longer be, but its spirit is still in every mold we inject, every bag we seal, and every angler who ties on a Big League bait for the first time.
We're proud of where we came from.
We're proud of the waters that raised us.
And we're proud to bring that legacy to every lake, river, and pond where anglers chase the next bite.
Because around here, we still believe one thing:
If you're not fishing with a bait you can trust, you're just playin' in the water.
